Aggressive Behavior Dog Training
We have a 3 year old french bulldog who loses her mind (jumping, barking, running. ) when another dog walks past the house or she sees one on tv. Not only is it annoying and embarrassing but we're afraid she might hurt herself. Any suggestions for correcting her behavior. Well, I have your answer. I had this same problem with my toy poodle, only everything was higher pitch. As much as I corrected or made noise or said "HEY" it didn't even make him flinch. I seemed to be invisible to him. Every time a person walked by our window, there was all out barking, but if they had a dog, it was all over, crazy barking and growling. When he was younger he also barked like crazy whenever I was watching Dog Whisperer and a dog was barking on TV. He;s now a very well mannered dog. Here's what I did. TV barking: when he starts barking I paused or mute the show and address him immediately, saying "Hey. " When he's quiet and calm again, I would continue watching the show and if he starts up again, SAME THING. Repeat until he is completely quiet. Barking at passing people and dogs: I had to use counter conditioning for him. Every time something pass buy I had tons of treats handy and fed him one after another. He slowly started associating passing objects as a positive experience. Did this for a couple weeks and starting weaning him off treats. He's pretty good now. Does not bark at people walking by now and only mumbles when dogs walk by. It's a long process but it's pretty solid. Best wishes. ADD: It's spelt Cesar Millan and DO NOT USE a prong collar on your french bulldog, you will choke it.

Aggressive Dog Behaviour
We have 2 females and 1 male. The 2 year old female is randomly aggressive to our dogs and always aggressive towards new dogs. They all stay in their separate dog boxes during the day and she tries to attack the 7 year old female next to her. We have tried "making" her socialize with other dogs but it hasn't changed anything. Telling her off when she does it doesn't make a difference. How can we stop her behaving this way. After speaking to others on the web, I found the answer. You can't "make" a dog socialize, you "train" it to accept things. Keeping your dogs in "boxes" during the day is making your dogs aggression worse, and the longer you continue to do this the harder it will be to eliminate the aggressive behavior. You need some serious training help and you can't get it here. Yelling at her will escalate the aggression (to a dog yelling is the same as barking and considered a threat). You need to get that 2 year old female away from your other dogs before something serious happens. Re-homing may be necessary and she may be just fine in another home without another dog or children. When aggression is allowed to continue, it only gets worse and harder to control, so please remove that dog from your other dogs and then check around to find a behavior trainer to help you. In the meantime, please read this article. It might help until you can get one on one help;

Aggressive Behavior Dogs
I watch Houston Animal Cops when I can't sleep. They always put down dogs who are agressive. I also sometimes watch that show on Animal Planet with the really uptight dog trainer. I think it is called "It is me or the dog". I seen her help turn that behavior around. Even the bastard Michael Vick's dogs were in rehab for their behavior. So, can most aggressive behavior be turned around? If so, why does the shelter on that show always euthanize dogs who are aggressive. Do you know what I found? Shelters are working in the best interests of the people not the best interest of the dogs. The liability risk of a bite is always the first consideration. They err on the side of caution. Animal aggression is not easily overcome. Food aggression is easier to fix. True people aggression is not as common as the other two problems. Shelters usually euthanize any dog with one of those problems or a dog from a breed known to have those issue. They just do it to keep the public safe. Some of the dogs could be probably be worked with. But it's better to keep kids safe rather than take a risk. Temperament is genetic. A dominant dog is a dominant dog is a dominant dog. A fearful dog is a fearful dog is a fearful dog. The underlying temperament never changes. But some things like food aggression can be worked with easier than animal aggression or human aggression.
