Aggressive Dogs
My wifes father told her that the more aggressive dogs like rottweilers, pit bulls and doberman pinschers get aggressive because their brain gets to large for their skull. Is there any truth behind this. After speaking to others on the web, I found the answer. Your wife's father is ignorant. Why would any creature's brain grow larger than its skull capacity? Think about it. . How many people do you know who have brains that grow too large for their skull? What about Chihuahuas? What keeps their brains from growing too large for their tiny skulls?. . Comeon, you can't honestly believe there would be any truth to that at all, could you? And besides, these breeds are not 'aggressive' unless they are poorly bred and poorly trained. I have had, trained, trialed, lived with Dobermans since I was six years old (a number of decades ago) and never had one that was 'aggressive'. I have had them save my life and protect me but they had no malice and were not in the least bit 'aggressive' — but maybe their brains were too small for their skull, huh?

Dog Aggression Problems
I do not have a dog yet. I am looking in to adopting one. I found one, they said he is good with other dogs, but when I went to visit him, he was almost vicious to other dogs. I know living in a shelter, caged all the time can be stressful on a dog, and I hope this is the reason he was acting so aggressive toward the other dogs. As he was still in the cage as the other dogs were passing by. But other that this problem he is perfect, he is soo sweet, and loves people. I am thinking about adopting this dog, I do not have any other dogs, but I would like to be able to take my dog to the park with me without worrying he will attack another dog. Have you ever had a dog whoever was dog aggressive? Or do you know if there is a way to help him with is dog aggression. I think I found an answer. Since you've never actually seen the dog outside of his kennel, it would probably be a little premature at this point to write the dog off as being agressive. Still, no one wants to adopt a problem. If the shelter is at all reputable, they should be honest and straight forward with you as to the dog's temperament. Hopefully they have some area where you can view the dog interact with other dogs, outside of the kennel. As a last resort, if you end up adopting the dog, and he in fact, is agressive, you will have a certain time frame in which to return the dog to the shelter. Bottomline: Go back to the shelter to view if you can view the dog interact with other dogs. If it appears he is agressive, it might be best to pass, particularly if you are a first time dog owner. Aggressive Dogs
Can someone name some breeds of aggressive/mean dogs. After speaking to others on the web, I found the answer. It's not about breed. All dogs can be badly bred, which leads to behavior and personality problems. All dogs can be driven insane by abuse. All dogs will obey their training, even if it's to attack and kill. For best results, regardless of breed, find a well bred, well socialized dog, train it properly and you will be rewarded. Despite what you hear on the news, dog attacks are rare.
